ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by N. ANAND VENKATESH,J.) This Habeas Corpus Petition has been filed for a direction to the first and second respondents to produce the body or person of the detenue and to set her at liberty.

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

3. The petitioner claims to be the friend of the detenue. According to the petitioner, the detenue had sent an SMS on 10.04.2026 to the effect that she is kept in illegal custody and she is in grave danger and she is prevented from freely communicating or seeking help from any one. On receipt of the said message, the petitioner gave a complaint to the respondent Police and since no action was taken, the present Habeas Corpus Petition has been filed before this Court.

4. The learned counsel for the State of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) on instructions submitted that the detenue is with her parents and that a complaint was sent through email only based on some message, which is said to have been received by the petitioner.

5. In the light of the above submission, there shall be a direction to the second respondent to enquire the detenue and see if she is facing any threat. A statement shall be recorded from the detenue and the second respondent shall proceed further in accordance with law.

6. This Habeas Corpus Petition is disposed of in the above terms. (N.A.V.,J..)
