Sivagangai District, which was rejected vide order dated 16.05.2026 in order No.Mu.Mu.(D1)/26323/2024, on the ground that the Superintendent of Police, Sivagangai District, the second respondent herein has not recommended to reregister the Pistol license vide the letter No.G3/27873/91/2024 dated 09.10.2025.

ORDER
The writ petition is filed challenging the order dated 16.05.2026, by which the petitioner's prayer for issuing a new pistol licence is rejected.
2. Under Section 18 of the Arms Act, 1959, any person aggrieved by an order refusing to grant a licence is entitled to approach the appellate authority. In view thereof, when there is an efficacious alternative remedy available to the petitioner, this writ petition is not entertained. However, the petitioner will be entitled to file an appeal before the Appellate Authority, and as and when such an appeal is filed, the same shall be dealt with as expeditiously as possible. 2/4
3. With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 05.06.2026 NCC : Yes/No sji Note: The Registry is directed to return the original order to enable the petitioner to prefer the appeal.
