Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents herein to grant permission and to provide police protection to conduct the cultural activities of Cock Fight on 07.05.2017; Jallikattu on 08.05.2017; Theechatti Eduthal' on 09.05.2017 and Valli Thirumanam drama on 10.05.2017 in pursuant to the 'Vaikasi Festival' of Arulmigu Sree Kamatchiamman Karuppasamy Thirukoil situated at M.Keelapatti Village, Mudhalaikulam post, Madurai District.

ORDER

[Order of the Court was made by A.SELVAM, J.] This Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to direct the respondents to give necessary permission for conducting cock fight, Jallikattu, Theechatti Eduthal and Valli Thirumanam drama in the place mentioned therein, by way of issuing a Writ of Mandamus. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

2.Mr.M.Govindan, learned Special Government Pleader, has taken notice for the respondents.

3.It is contended on the side of the respondents that cock fight is not permissible under law.

4.Considering the representation made on the side of the respondents, the relief sought in the Writ petition with regard to cock fight cannot be granted and therefore the same deserves to be dismissed.

5.In fine, this Writ Petition is dismissed. No costs. However, the petitioner is directed to give a representation to the concerned authority for conducting programmes which is permissible under law.
