ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by N.SATHISH KUMAR, J.) The prayer in this writ petition is to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the Respondents No.1 to 9 to re-change the name from Gandhi Museum (Rani Mangammal Palace) to Rani Mangammal Palace by considering the Petitioner's representation dated on 08.06.2026 and consequently direct the Respondents to 2/5

reconstruct the building Rani Mangammal Sathram opposite to Railway Station and Karupatti Sathram used as Kitchen Room as in the earlier name.

2. According to the petitioner, the present Gandhi Museum was known as Rani Mangammal Museum during 17th Century and in 1955, the State Government gifted the Palace and 13 acres of surrounding land to all India Gandhi Smarak Nidhi to honour the father of the Nation. As a heritage and artistic preservation, the name has to be re-changed as Rani Mangammal Palace. Therefore, he seeks the above prayer.

3. The property itself was transferred in the year 1955 by way of gift by the State Government. We are of the view that the petitioner has no locus to seek such prayer. We do not find any merits in this writ petition.

4. Hence, this Writ Petition is dismissed. No costs. [N.S.K., J.] & [M.J.R., J.] Index : Yes / No 19.06.2026 : Yes / No bala To
