ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J) The writ petitioner has filed this petition in public interest. He alleges that there has been a systematic theft of sand from Rajapuram Ragavendra Temple to Kothapalayam Check dam in Amaravathi River, at Aravakurichi Taluk, Karur District. 2.The Superintendent of Police as well as the District Collector have filed their respective reports. It is seen that the allegations made by the writ petitioner are correct. However, it is also a matter of record that the authorities have been taking proper action during the last few months. This is evident from the number of cases registered by the police. The action taken report filed by the authority is placed on record.

3.It is however made clear that the authorities must maintain continuous vigil. They should monitor closely. They should ensure there is no theft of sand. The writ petitioner alleges that he was assaulted by some anti-social elements on account of his having filed this writ petition. The local police is directed to look into the matter. The petitioner is given liberty to approach this Court if there is recurrence of the incidents that led to filing of the writ petitions.

4.With these observations, this writ petition is disposed of. No Costs.
