O R D E R

The writ petition has been filed to direct the respondents 1 to 5 to initiate appropriate action against the respondents 6 and 7 and ensure the petitioner and 150 families to take part in the temple festival to be held on 05.05.2017 by providing adequate police protection based on the petitioner's representation dated 29.04.2017.

2.Today Mr.S.Alagarsamy, Inspector of Police, Karaikudi South Circle, Sivagangai District, is present.

3.On instructions, the learned Additional Government Pleader submitted that tension is prevailing in that area between two groups namely, the group of the petitioner and the group of the respondents 6 and 7.

4.Under such circumstances, no positive direction can be issued as prayed for by the petitioner, as that would amount to interference of the activities of the police. It is for the police to take a decision as to whether to permit the conduct of the festival or not, taking into consideration the caste/communal and other law and order problem.

5.With the above observation, this writ petition is closed. No costs.
