O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to issue a direction, directing the respondents 1 & 2 to give police protection for life and limb of the petitioner and his wife.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would state that the marriage between the petitioner and one Priya took place at a temple as per the Hindu customs and rites. According to him, they both loved each other and the marriage was an inter-caste marriage and it took place on their own wills. The 3rd respondent is the father of the petitioner's wife and the 4th respondent is the father of the petitioner and both the parents did not accept the marriage and therefore, they threatened the petitioner with dire consequences. Hence, the petitioner has approached the 2nd respondent for police protection by giving a representation dated 04.11.2020, but no action has been taken by the respondents/Police. Hence, this petition.

3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents 1 and 2, on instructions, would submit that the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

Crl.O.P(MD)No.13595 of 2020 representation of the petitioner, dated 04.11.2020 will be considered by the respondent police.

4.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents 1 and 2.

5.Considering the submission made on either side, the respondents 1 and 2 are directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 04.11.2020 forthwith and give police protection to the petitioner and his wife, if necessary. If it is found that police protection is not necessary, the same shall be communicated to the petitioner so that he can work out his rights in the manner known to law.

6.With the above direction, this criminal original petition is disposed of.
