PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant 21 days ordinary leave without escort to the petitioner's husband namely Jeyakodi, S/o.Mokkaraj, a lift convict prisoner (C.P.No.5361) now confined at Central Prison, Madurai for the purpose of attending his house function (Vasantha Vizha) to be held at Sri Bathrakaliamman Mahal on 29.06.2025 located at Velayapatti, Usilampatti to Peraiyur Road, Madurai district relating to petitioner's representation dated 10.06.2025.

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to grant 21 days ordinary leave without escort to the petitioner's husband namely Jeyakodi, S/o.Mokkaraj, a lift convict prisoner (C.P.No.5361) now confined at Central Prison, Madurai for the purpose of attending his house function (Vasantha Vizha) to be held at Sri Bathrakaliamman Mahal on 29.06.2025 located at Velayapatti, Usilampatti to Peraiyur Road, Madurai district relating to petitioner's representation dated 10.06.2025.

2. Heard Mr.AK.Azagar Sami, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.B.Nambi Selvan, learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents.

3. When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the representation of the petitioner dated 10.06.2025 is under consideration and suitable orders will be passed within a period of one week.

4. Recording the submission of the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, the writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner dated 10.06.2025 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
