Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents herein to grant permission and to provide police protection to conduct the cultural activities of 'Valli Thirumanam' drama on 19.05.2017 in pursuant to the 'Vaikasi Festival' of Arulmigu Sree Kamatchiamman-Sree Karuppusamy Thirukoil, situated at Mudhalaikulam Village, Usilampatti Taluk, Madurai District, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 05.05.2017.

[Order of the Court was made by T.RAJA, J.] Heard Mr.S.Mahendrapathy, counsel for the petitioner and Mr.V.Muruganantham, Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

2. By consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

3. The petitioner is before this Court for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents herein to grant permission and to provide police protection to conduct the cultural https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

activities of 'Valli Thirumanam' drama on 19.05.2017 in pursuant to the 'Vaikasi Festival' of Arulmigu Sree Kamatchiamman-Sree Karuppusamy Thirukoil, situated at Mudhalaikulam Village, Usilampatti Taluk, Madurai District, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 05.05.2017.

4. When the matter was taken up, the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents has produced a copy of the decision taken by the first respondent in the peace committee meeting held on 06.05.2017 and submitted that even today, a peace committee meeting is being conducted before the Revenue Divisional Officer, Usilampatti.

5. The learned counsel for the petitioner also submitted that the petitioner and others have already appeared before the Deputy Superintendent of Police and all the people belong to both sides agreed to abide by the conditions going to be imposed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police.

6. On the other hand, the learned Additional Government Pleader, appearing on behalf of the respondents taking instructions from the Police Officer, who is present before this Court, submitted that the Revenue Divisional Officer, Usilampatti, seized of the matter and holding the peace committee meeting today and on the basis of the decision going to be taken in the peace committee, festival will be celebrated.

7. Recording the said submission, this Writ Petition is disposed of. It is needless to mention that the parties are directed to abide by the decision that is to be taken in the peace committee meeting. No costs.
