Mr.D.Sivaraman, learned counsel takes notice for the respondents.

2. By consent of parties, the main Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal.

3. This is a case filed by the petitioner, who is one of the employees of the respondent Transport Corporation challenging the later disposal of the retirement benefits.

4. Admittedly, the petitioner retired from service on 31.12.2010 and the retirement benefits including gratuity, leave salary, were paid to him i on various dates in the year 2012. The present Writ Petition is filed for a direction to the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 18% per annum for the belated payment of the above said amounts.

5. Mr.D.Sivaraman, the learned counsel, who takes notice for the respondents represents that the issue of payment of interest was never raised at the time of disbursing the above said amounts.

6. However, the learned counsel for the petitioner says that if the petitioner had made any application earlier, demanding interest, the same may be considered by the respondents favourably.

7. In the light of the above, the Writ Petition is disposed of directing the respondents to consider payment of interest, in case the petitioner had made any application earlier at the time of receiving belated payments from the respondents. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No Costs.
