Prayer: Writ Petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this court to issue a Writ of MANDAMUS to issue direction to the 3rd respondent to return the seized gold jewels, vide order O.R.No.103/2026-AIU, Trichy dated 19.05.2026 by considering petitioner representation dated 02.06.2026. this Honble court and pass such further or other orders as this Honble Court may deem fit proper in the circumstances of the case and thus render Justice. .

ORDER
The present writ petition has been filed for the following relief:- "Writ Petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this court to issue a Writ of MANDAMUS to issue direction to the 3rd respondent to return the seized gold jewels, vide order O.R.No.103/2026-AIU, Trichy dated 19.05.2026 by considering petitioner representation dated 02.06.2026. this Honble court and pass such further or other orders as this Honble Court may deem fit proper in the circumstances of the case and thus render Justice."
2. Heard Mr.M.Sathish Kumar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.R.Gowri Shankar, learned Senior Standing Counsel who takes notice on behalf of the respondents.
3. The case of the petitioner is that he was employed abroad and upon his return to India, he was carrying a gold ornament weighing approximately 90.50 grams. The purchase was duly made on the
petitioner and the petitioner also had the bill for the said purchase. According to the petitioner, the gold ornament has been seized solely on the ground of non-declaration. Therefore, the petitioner had made a representation dated 02.06.2026, seeking the return of the gold ornament, however, the same has not been considered to date. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court.
4. When the matter came up for hearing, learned Senior Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents would submit that the representation dated 02.06.2026, will be considered in accordance with law, if appropriate time is granted.
5. In view thereof, this writ petition is ordered on the following terms:- i. The 3rd respondent is directed to take up the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 02.06.2026 for consideration and thereafter, pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible, in any event
not later than four weeks from the date of receipt of a web copy of the order.
ii. No costs.
