Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the fourth respondent to issue property tax receipt to the petitioner by getting property tax, in respect of the property lying in Natham New S.No.489/4E3 of Venkatampatti Village, Alangulam Taluk, Tenkasi District, on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 30.03.2026. ORDER

The Writ Petition is filed for a Mandamus directing the fourth respondent to assess the petitioner's property for property tax and to issue receipt thereof.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the property in question being a Natham land, was settled in favour of the petitioner. The petitioner has put up a construction, and when he sought for a drinking water connection, the receipt for payment of property tax was insisted upon. When the petitioner has approached the respondents 4 and 5 for assessment of property tax and issuance of the receipt, the same was not 2/5

issued. The petitioner, is therefore, before this Court.

3. The learned Government Standing Counsel would submit that the second respondent will consider the representation of the petitioner and after due remarks from the respondents 4 and 5, orders in accordance with law will be passed.

4. In view thereof, this Writ Petition is disposed of on the following terms:

(i) The representation of the petitioner, dated 30.03.2026, shall be taken up by the second respondent for consideration; (ii) After getting due remarks on the respondents 4 and 5 or from such other official of the Panchayat, due orders either by the second respondent himself or through the other officials of the Panchayat, orders in accordance with law shall be passed. (iii) The aforesaid exercise shall be completed within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a web copy of this order.

(iv) No costs.
