The writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent police to accord permission for one day token fasting at the places as sought by the petitioner's association letter dated 06.10.2016 addressed to the respondent police.

2. Mr.K.P.Krishna Doss, learned Government Advocate, takes notice for the respondent. By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent.

4. Mr.G.Bhagavath Singh, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner has sought permission for conducting one day fasting on 28.10.2016 and in this regard, he has also sent a representation dated 06.10.2016 to the respondent. But the respondent police did not consider his representation so far. He further submitted that it would be suffice that the respondent police can give permission for some other day to conduct fasting.

Considering the submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, the respondent police is directed to consider the application of the petitioner dated 06.10.2016 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No Costs.
