ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by M.Sathyanarayanan, J.) The petitioner, a resident of Karunakkamuthanpatti Village & Post, Uthamapalayam Taluk, Theni District, came forward to file this writ petition, styled as a public interest litigation, and among other things, has stated that he is also an advocate and a permanent resident of the said village and that the 3rd respondent police station is located 15 Kms., away from his village. It is specifically pointed out by the petitioner that in the last two years, the 3rd respondent police had registered the following cases and out of those cases, in four cases, persons from his village are arrayed as accused :- i) Crime No.101/2015 u/s 302 IPC ii) Crime No.276/2016 u/s 302 IPC _________
iii) Crime No.303/2018 u/s 307 IPC iv) Crime No.32/2018 u/s 302 IPC v) Crime No.49/2017 u/s 302 IPC
2. It is further averred by the petitioner that for want of effective police supervision and mechanism, the crime rate is increasing day by day and in this regard, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 20.6.2019 to the respondents to establish an outpost to deal with law and order and crime related problems and in the absence of response from them, is constrained to approach this Court by filing the present petition.
3. Heard the submissions of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.J.Gunaseelan Muthiah, learned Addl. Government Pleader takes notice for respondents 1 to 3 and on instructions submit that a decision has been taken to locate a police outpost near the building at KM Patti Library and in the said outpost, one Special Sub-Inspector of Police, one Head Constable and one Constable will be placed and they will function as per rotation and that apart, two wheeler patrol round the clock has also been initiated.
4. In the light of the said development, the grievance expressed by the petitioner has been addressed. However, it is made clear that the effective functioning of the said outpost shall be monitored by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Uthamapalayam as well as the Superintendent of Police, Theni District.
5. This writ petition is disposed of accordingly. Registry is directed to mark a copy of this order to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Uthamapalayam as well as the Superintendent of Police, Sd/- Assistant Registrar (Records) // True Copy // Sub Assistant Registrar(CS) GLN To
