Heard both sides.

2. The petitioner was accused of having committed energy theft. The assessment order dated 21.06.2023 was passed calling upon the petitioner to pay a sum of Rs.1,34,324/-. The petitioner is yet to challenge the same. If the petitioner files an appeal within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, the same will be entertained by the appellate authority without reference to limitation.

3. It is stated that the petitioner's electricity service connection was cut off. If the petitioner pays a sum of Rs.30,000/- within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, the electricity service connection will be restored. The petitioner's rights will abide by the outcome of the order to be passed in the appeal to be filed by the petitioner herein. I make it clear that I have not gone into the merits of the matter. All the contentions of the petitioner are left open. If the petitioner fails to file an appeal within a period of three weeks as mentioned above or pay the amount of Rs.30,000/- within a period of 2/4

3 W.P.(MD)NO.15922 OF 2023 four weeks, the benefit of this order will stand automatically vacated. This writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
