PRAYER:- Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to grant permission to conduct cycle rally program containing seven persons on 18.10.2018 at about 10.00 a.m starting from near Sivagangai palace to Governor Office, Guindy, Chennai requesting him to give assent for decision taken by the council of ministers Tamil Nadu dated 09.09.2018, regarding release of Seven Tamils, who were in prison for 27 years as a life convicts with regard former Prime Minister Mr.Ravigandhi's Assassination case or any other date. ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a writ of mandamus directing the respondent police to grant permission to conduct cycle rally program starting from Sivagangai to Chennai in order to create awareness with regard to the decision taken by the State of Tamil Nadu to release the seven persons, who have been convicted in the assassination of the former Prime Minister and in order to insist the Governor to give assent.

2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner had given a representation to the third respondent in this regard. The third respondent by his letter dated 21.09.2018, had directed the petitioner to approach the Director General of Police, since the rally is proposed to be conducted across the State. Subsequently, the petitioner has given a fresh representation to the Director General of Police on 04.10.2018 and the same is pending.

3.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents. 4.In view of the limited relief sought for in the writ petition, there shall be a direction to the first respondent to consider the representation dated 04.10.2018 made by the petitioner and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
