This petition has been filed, seeking to direct the respondents 1 and 2 herein to provide appropriate police protection for the Pumping Station and Head Works Office situated at Aatupannai near Irukkankudi Dam, Sattur Taluk, Virudhunagar District to enable the petitioner Board's Officials and Employees to carry on the water supply work to the public without fear. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the State. Mr.B.R.Vivekananthan, Sub-Inspector of Police, Ammapatti Police Station is present.

3. It is indeed sad that the Tamil Nadu Water and Drainage Board (in short the "TWAD Board"), represented by its Assistant Engineer, has approached this Court for Police protection for the purpose of carrying out Public Works for supplying water, since it is alleged that the respondents 3 to 8 are causing hindrance.

4. On instructions, learned Additional Government Pleader submitted that on the complaint given by the TWAD Board, the respondent police have given sufficient Police protection for the works of the petitioner.

5. Recording the same, this petition is closed with a direction to the respondent police to ensure that the work of the TWAD Board does not suffer on any account and necessary action should be taken against those who are preventing the Public Officials from discharging their official functions.
