By relying on sale deed dated 25.01.1976, the petitioner asserts title to 2 acres and 92 cents in Survey No.60/2 from and out of the total extent of 9 acres and 30 cents. By further claiming that an error was committed in the revenue records while classifying the said land as 'Tharisu', the petitioner had submitted a petition dated 24.11.2021 before the District Revenue Officer. The said petition was rejected by order dated 28.08.2023, which is impugned herein.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner invited my attention to a copy of the SLR and the settlement register. On that basis, he contends that the name of the petitioner's father's vendor Muthuramalinga Thevar is mentioned against Survey No.60/2. He also submits that the word 'Tharisu' has been circled therein, thereby indicating that it was scored off and replaced by the name of Muthuramalinga Thevar. He contends further that the name of Muthuramalinga Thevar is admittedly recorded in respect of Survey No.60/3 and 60/4, thereby indicating that the entire extent in the undivided Survey No.60 was owned by Muthuramalinga Thevar.
3. Learned Special Government Pleader refutes these contentions with reference to the SLR and UDR records. He points out that even in the pre-UDR stage, the land in Survey No.60/2 was recorded as 'Sarkar Poramboku Tharisu'. Therefore, he submits that there is no change made in respect of the survey number during the UDR period. Consequently, he contends that the order of the District Revenue Officer contains no infirmity.

4. In the order of the District Revenue Officer, the status of the land as per the settlement register and UDR records was noticed. In specific, it is mentioned that it was recorded in such documents as 'Sarkar Punjai Tharisu' and 'Arasu Punjai', respectively. Thereafter, the following finding was recorded:
5. In the facts and circumstances outlined above, I find no infirmity in the above conclusions. Therefore, I decline to interfere with the impugned order but leave it open to the petitioner to approach the jurisdictional civil court.
