ORDER

This petition is filed seeking writ of mandamus directing the respondents to give police protection to conduct Kabbadi Tournament from 08.10.2021 at 04.00 pm., to 10.10.2021 at 12.00 am., at Manthai Thidal, Palaya Kariyapatti Village, Boothalur Taluk, Thanjavur District.

2.When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) appearing for the respondents would submit that because of the COVID-19 protocol that has been issued by the Government, the festivals and the public sports have been prohibited. On that ground, permission was not granted to the petitioner.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that for the past 3 years, they are conducting the tournament without any trouble and misuse. They are also ready to abide and follow the COVID-19 protocol.

W.P.(MD)No.17139 of 2021 4.However, such sort of contention cannot be accepted by this Court at this stage. If the situation become normal in future, the petitioner may revive his request.

5.With the aforesaid liberty, this petition is dismissed. No costs.
