ORDER

The petitioner is a victim in S.C.No.120 of 2024 pending on the file of the learned Principal District and Sessions Judge, 1/4

Virudhunagar District. She has filed this petition seeking a direction to the trial Court to conclude the trial in S.C.No.120 of 2024 within a stipulated time.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is facing life threat from the accused and therefore, the trial Court may be directed to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submits that in this case, there are 18 accused, out of which, 12 accused are still in jail. This case has been committed to the Principal District and Sessions Court on 29.06.2024 and charges are yet to be framed. He further submits that there are 99 witnesses in this case.

4. The Principal District and Sessions Court, apart from the murder cases, is also dealing with other civil matters. This Court, without ascertaining the pendency of cases, is not inclined to issue 2/4

any direction to the learned Principal District and Sessions Judge, Virudhunagar, to give priority to this case alone. The Courts are expected to conduct trial on chronological basis by giving importance to other cases.

5. Therefore, this Criminal Original Petition is closed. However, the learned Principal District and Sessions Judge, Virudhunagar, is directed to conclude the trial in S.C.No.120 of 2024 as expeditiously as possible. If the petitioner is facing life threat from the accused, she is at liberty to lodge a separate complaint before the concerned Court.
