This writ petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking direction to the respondents to consider the representation, dated 24.08.2016, under which the petitioner has sought for transfer, after 31 years of service, from Karaikal Depot to Kumbakonam Depot.
2. Mr.D.Sivaraman, learned Standing Counsel, accepts notice for the respondents. By consent of the learned counsel for both sides, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3. By enclosing a discharge summary, dated 09.06.2016, the petitioner claims that it is very difficult for him to travel 160 Kms from Karaikal to Kumbakonam, on account of his health conditions (as reflected in the discharge summary); therefore, the representation of the petitioner should be sympathetically considered by the Management. petitioner's children are studying at Kumbakonam, and hence, in the educational interest of the children, he must be transferred to Kumbakonam, so that, he can look after his family as well as he can discharge his official duties. As his representation has not been considered so far, this writ petition has been filed.
4. It is agreeable for the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner.
5. It is the contention of the learned counsel for the petitioner that in the light of the plea made by the petitioner in the representation, dated 24.08.2016, the respondents should be directed to take appropriate action on the representation.
6. Accordingly, the first respondent is hereby directed to act on the representation, dated 24.08.2016, and to pass a reasoned order, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
7. With the above directions, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
