ORDER
This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents 3 and 4 to provide adequate police protection to the life and liberty of the petitioner and her minor daughter and to ensure that the petitioner is not unlawfully dispossessed from the shared household situated at No.1/554, Gopalapuram, Arockiya Nagar, Sarugani, Devakottai Taluk, Sivagangai District, by the respondents 5 to 7 or anybody acting on their behalf and consequently direct the official respondents to afford necessary protection for the petitioner's peaceful residence in the said shared household, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 17.05.2026. 2/6
2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the respondents 5 to 7 are the petitioner's in-laws. The petitioner's marriage with one Karthik was solemnized on 30.01.2020, and out of the wedlock, they have been blessed with a minor daughter. The petitioner's husband is presently employed abroad.

It is the grievance of the petitioner that, in the absence of her husband, her in-laws, namely respondents 5 to 7, have been subjecting her to acts of domestic violence and harassment, with a view to forcibly evicting her from the shared matrimonial home. Aggrieved by the said conduct, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 17.05.2026 to the respondent police seeking appropriate protection and action. However, no effective action has been taken on the said representation. Hence, this petition came to be filed.

The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent police, on instructions, submitted that the petitioner's representation submitted by the petitioner has been duly received and that an enquiry is presently pending pursuant thereto. However, the respondent police is not able to proceed with the enquiry, due to the non cooperation of the petitioner. 3/6
5. Heard the learned counsel on either sides and carefully perused the materials available on record.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the fourth respondent police to issue notices to the petitioner as well as the private respondents and other parties' concerned under Section 64 of BNSS, and thereafter conduct an enquiry in accordance with law. The said enquiry shall be completed and concluded within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioner is also directed to extend her full cooperation for the effective conduct and completion of the enquiry by the fourth respondent police.

Upon conclusion of the enquiry, if it is found necessary that the petitioner be provided with adequate protection, the fourth respondent police shall afford appropriate police protection to the petitioner, subject to payment of the requisite charges, in accordance with G.O.Ms.No.139, Home (Pol-VIII) Department, dated 04.03.2019.
