[Order of the Court was made by S.S.SUNDAR, J.] The petitioner has filed this contempt petition alleging willful disobedience of the order of this Court, dated 17.12.2021, passed in W.P.(MD) No.22416 of 2021.
2. The petitioner earlier filed a writ petition in W.P.(MD) No.22416 of 2021 for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to conduct an enquiry and take appropriate action based on the outcome of the
enquiry, by considering his representation dated 23.08.2021. The said writ petition was disposed of by this Court by order 17.12.2021, in the following lines:
"6.Having regard to the submissions made by the learned counsel on either side and also taking into consideration the limited prayer sought for in the writ petition, this Court directs the third respondent to consider the petitioner's representation, dated 23.08.2021, and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, after affording due opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and respondent Nos.4 and 5, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order."
3. Pursuant to the said order, it appears that the Inspector of Panchayats, namely, District Collector has initiated proceedings in terms of Section 205 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 and pursuant to the directions of the Inspector of Panchayats, the Tahsildar, Sivagangai, has also commenced enquiry as contemplated under Section 205(1)(a) of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994.
4. Since proceedings for removal of the Panchayat President have been set in motion, by invoking the statutory power of the Inspector of Panchayats / District Collector, this Court finds that the steps taken by the respondents are in compliance with the directions issued by this Court.
5. Hence, this contempt petition is closed.
