O R D E R

This petition has been filed to direct the Additional District Judge for EC and NDPS Act Cases, Pudukkottai to expedite the trial in SC.No.1 of 2020 and complete the trial within a stipulated time.

2.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor (Criminal Side) for the respondent.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the investigation in Crime No.175 of 2019 was completed and the case was charge sheeted before the Judicial Magistrate, Keeranur in PRC No.18 of 2019, for the offences under Sections 147, 148, 294(b) and 302 IPC. Originally, the case was committed to the Court of Sessions and culminated in S.C.No.1 of 2020, on the file of the Principal District and Sessions Court, Pudukkottai and thereafter the case was transferred to the Additional District Judge, EC and NDPS Act Cases, Pudukkottai. The case was posted on 09.01.2020 and adjourned to 10.02.2020 for the purpose of service of summons to the accused. The grievance of the petitioner is that the case is periodically getting adjourned only for the purpose of completion of service for the past 12 hearings and therefore would pray for earlier disposal of the case.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent would state that after investigation in the present case, charge sheet has been filed and the same has been taken on file in PRC No.18 of 2019, before the Judicial Magistrate, Keeranur. The case was committed to the Court of Sessions in S.C.No.1 of 2020 on the file of the Principal District and Sessions Court, Pudukkottai and thereafter it was transferred to the Additional District Judge, EC and NDPS Act Cases, Pudukkottai and now the trial is pending.

5.Recording the submissions made by both sides, the learned Additional District Judge for EC and NDPS Act Cases, Pudukkottai is directed to dispose of the case in SC No.1 of 2020, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
