ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by N.ANAND VENKATESH,J.) This Habeas Corpus Petition has been filed directing the respondents to produce the person or body of the detenu, who is the wife of the petitioner and to set her at liberty.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Counsel for State of TN (Crl.Side) appearing on behalf of the respondents.

3. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner was married to the detenu and there are two children out of the wedlock. The petitioner's wife went missing from 12.04.2026 and inspite of best efforts, her whereabouts could not be ascertained. Hence, a complaint was given before the second respondent on 13.04.2026 and based on the same, a ''woman missing'' FIR was registered in Crime No.124 of 2026. Since no effective steps were taken to find the whereabouts of the detenu, the present Habeas Corpus Petition has been filed before this Court.

4. The learned Counsel for State of TN (Crl.Side) submitted that all steps are being taken by the second respondent.

5. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and considering the grievance expressed by the learned counsel for the petitioner, there shall be a direction to the second respondent to proceed with the further investigation in the pending FIR in Crime No.124 of 2026 in line with the guidelines issued by this Court in K.Sukumari vs. The Superintendent of Police, Virudhunagar District, Virudhunagar and others, reported in [2018 (2) LW (Crl) 636].

6. This Habeas Corpus Petition is disposed of with the above direction.
