This writ petition has been filed, seeking a direction to the respondents to give permission and necessary protection for Sri Selva Vinayagar Thirukovil function from 12.12.2016 to 14.12.2016 based on the petitioner's representation dated 11.11.2016.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the villagers jointly decided to conduct temple festival of Sri Selva Vinayagar Thirukovil, situated at Bharathithasan Village, D.Kudalur, Vedasandur Taluk, Dindigul District, from 12.12.2016 to 14.12.2016. He would further submit that in this connection, a representation was given to the respondent police on 11.11.2016, with a request to grant permission to conduct the programme on the above said date. However, the respondents have not yet considered the said representation and hence, the petitioner is before this Court with this Writ Petition.

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

In view of the limited scope of prayer sought for in this petition, the second respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 11.11.2016 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, after providing opportunity to the necessary parties, and taking into account the law and order problem and other aspects, prevailing in that area, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of.
