Prayer: Writ Petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing respondents 1 and 2 to return the petitioners original driving licence bearing DL No.TN59 19890004428 forthwith, within such time as may be stipulated by this Honble Court, and consequently pass such further or other orders as this Honble court may deem fit and proper in the circumstances of this case and thus render justice.

ORDER

The writ petition is filed for a mandamus directing the respondents to return the petitioner's original driving license bearing DL No.TN59 19890004428.

2. Heard Mr.A.Mu.Sharavanan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, Mr.R.Parthiban, learned Government Standing Counsel, who takes notice on behalf of the 1st respondent and Mr.I.Murugesan, learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side), who takes notice on behalf of the 2nd respondent.

3. When the matter came up for hearing today, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing on behalf of the 2nd respondent submitted that the petitioner was involved in an accident and that a case has been registered in Cr. No. 3 of 2026, on the file of the 2nd

respondent. Therefore, the license was required for verification purposes. It is further submitted that, after completion of inquiry and verification, the same will be returned to the petitioner.

4. Recording the same, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to return the petitioner's license within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of the web copy of this order. It is needless to state that the authority shall act upon the web copy of this order. No costs.
