Prayer: Writ Petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to restore the classification of the Petitioners property bearing Door No.130/DA3, Katcherry Road, comprised in Ward No.2, within the limits of Virudhunagar Municipality, Virudhunagar District, assessed under New Assessment No.132/002/900757 and Old Assessment No.132/42094, from Commercial Property Tax Assessment to Residential Property Tax Assessment based upon the Petitioners representation dated 13.04.2026, within a time frame fixed by this Honble Court and pass such further or other orders as this Honble court may deem fit and proper in the circumstances of this case and thus render justice.

ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed for the following relief:- "Writ Petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to restore the classification of the Petitioners property bearing Door No.130/DA3, Katcherry Road, comprised in Ward No.2, within the limits of Virudhunagar Municipality, Virudhunagar District, assessed under New Assessment No.132/002/900757 and Old Assessment No. 132/42094, from Commercial Property Tax Assessment to Residential Property Tax Assessment based upon the Petitioners representation dated 13.04.2026, within a time frame fixed by this Honble Court and pass such further or other orders as this Honble court may deem fit and proper in the circumstances of this case and thus render justice."

2. Heard Mr.Murugapandi, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.N.M.M.Abishek Pandian, learned Standing Counsel, who takes notice on behalf of the respondent.

3. When the matter came up for hearing today, learned Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the respondent municipality would submit that the municipality would consider the issue based on the representation of the petitioner dated 13.04.2026 and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, within the time stipulated by this Court.

4. Recording the same, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 13.04.2026 pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of the web copy of the order.
