ORDER

Seeking to direct the respondents to grant permission and provide adequate police protection for conducting the Temple Festival of Arulmigu Vadakkuva Selviamman and Nadukaattu Ayyannar Temple, situated at Duraisamypuram Village, Ottapidaram Taluk, Thoothukudi District, scheduled to be held from 29.06.2026 to 03.07.2026 and for conducting the Adal Padal Cultural Programme on 02.07.2026 by considering the petitioner's representation dated 04.06.2026, this writ petition is filed.

2. The learned Government Advocate(Crl.side) submitted that since already a First Information Report has been registered against two rival groups, 2/5

possibility of eruption of law and order problem is highly probable.

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side and carefully perused the materials available on record.

4. The Tahsildar, Ottapidaram Taluk, Thoothukudi District is suo motu impleaded as 5th respondent.

5. The 5th respondent is directed to put the petitioner as well as the rival parties on notice and conduct a peace committee on or before 24.06.2026 and pass appropriate orders facilitating the conduct of the Temple festival as scheduled from 29.06.2026 to 03.07.2026.

6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. 19.06.2026 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No gbg Note : Issue order copy on 22.06.2026.
