Respondents PRAYER: Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to dispose the mercy petition dated 15.12.2015 preferred by the petitioner for setting aside the order passed the 2nd respondent in C.No.B2/Appeal.56/2015 dated 18.11.2015 confirming the punishment awarded by the 3rd respondent in P.R.No.31/2015 dated 23.08.2015 and within the period that may be stipulated by this Court. O R D E R

The petitioner seeks for a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to dispose the mercy petition dated 15.12.2015 preferred by the petitioner for setting aside the order passed the 2nd respondent in C.No.B2/Appeal.56/2015 dated 18.11.2015 confirming the punishment awarded by the 3rd respondent in P.R.No.31/2015 dated 23.08.2015 and within a time frame. 2.Mr.A.K.Baskarapandian, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for the respondents. By consent, the Writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

of, on merits and in accordance with law, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

4.In view of the limited scope of the prayer, without going into the merits of the matter, 1st respondent is directed to consider the mercy petition dated 15.12.2015 on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, preferably on or before 15.03.2017.

5.With the above direction, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
