ORDER

This petition is filed seeking for a direction to the respondent police to grant permission and accord protection for conducting the Kabadi Tournament scheduled on 08.07.2023 and 09.07.2023 in Kottaimedu Ground, Kottaimedu Thottiyam, Trichy District.

2.The respondent police stated to have rejected the request of the petitioner on three grounds, namely the petitioner has not obtained permission from the owner of the ground, where the tournament was proposed to be conducted, that the petitioner has not registered it with the Amateur Kabaddi Association and that there could be law and order problem if at all festival is conducted. 3.It is submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner got the approval from the owner of the ground, where the tournament is being conducted, copy of which is filed before this Court. Similarly, he also filed a 2/5

copy, where the petitioner was registered with Amateur Kabaddi Association. As far as the law and order issue is concerned, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is ready to abide by whatever conditions imposed by the respondent police in respect of conducting the tournament, as all the arrangements have been made.

4.Considering the submissions made by the petitioner and also taking into consideration of the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side), this Court directs the petitioner to approach the respondent police with a fresh application by enclosing the copies of the permission granted by the owner of the land as well as the registration with the Amateur Kabaddi Association and make a fresh request. On receipt of such application, the respondent police are directed to accord the permission to the petitioner subject to the guidelines issued vide proceedings in Rc.007301/Genl.(1)/2019 dated 09.04.2019. 5.With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) is instructed to appraise the local police that 3/5

since the tournaments are likely to start tomorrow, the request may be processed as expeditiously as possible. No costs.
