quota by accepting the certificates of the petitioner and to allot marks in pursuant to petitioner's application in Application No.23UG801015 in the Admission process to MBBS/BDS Degree Courses in Tamil Needy Government Medical/Dental Colleges, Government quota seats in self-financing Medical/Dental Colleges, ESIC Medical College affiliated to the first respondent for year 2023-24. ORDER

The petitioner has applied under the Sports quota that she has participated in several National and International events. This petitioner was provided with 130 marks and has been ranked as 40 and therefore, the petitioner has filed this writ petition stating that her participation in International event conducted at Coimbatore by the Tamilnadu Powerlifting Association has not been considered and hence, he has approached this Court that if the mark has been provided for her participation in this international event then she would come in the first rank.

2. The learned counsel for the respondents by referring the prospectus annexed in page No.42 of the typed set of papers submitted that the petitioner would be eligible for a mark for her participation in the national tournaments, if the same have been officially recognized as the regular annual championship tournament by MYAS or IOA or SAI or SDAT or respective official National Sports Federation. According to them, this event as projected by the petitioner is an International event conducted by the Tamilnadu Powerlifting Association, which is not recognized either by SDAT or by the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

3. Considering this submission of the learned counsel for the respondent, this Court impleaded the Member Secretary, Sports Development Authority and directed the Government Pleader to get instructions.

4. The Member Secretary, SDAT & Director (Ex-officio) has filed a status report stating that the Tamilnadu Powerlifting Association is not recognized by SDAT. The learned Standing counsel appearing for the third respondent has also relied on the letter of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Department dated 19.08.2019 to the Member Secretary SDAT stating that there are no National Sports Federations (NSF) recognized for the Sport of Carrom, throwball, Silambattam, Powerlifting and Yogasana.

5. Recording the statement of the Member Secretary and the submissions made on behalf of the respondents, this writ petition is dismissed that the petitioner is not entitle for the relief. No costs. 28.07.2023 am NCC : Yes / No.
