Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 3 herein to ensure the proper supply of drinking water through the public water connection taps to the villagers by taking appropriate and stringent action against the fourth respondent based on the representation of the villagers dated 28.11.2016. For Petitioner : Mr.S.M.Mohan Gandhi For Respondent No.1 : Mr.D.Muruganandam, Additional Government Pleader.

For Respondents 2 and 3 : Mr.A.K.Baskara Pandian, Special Government Pleader.

ORDER

[Order of the Court was made by A.SELVAM, J.] This writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to direct the respondents to ensure proper supply of drinking water thorough public water connection taps to the village mentioned in the petition, by way of issuing a writ of mandamus.

2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has advanced his argument on the basis of averments made in the writ petition.

3.Mr.D.Muruganandam, learned Additional Government Pleader, has taken notice for the first respondent and Mr.A.K.Baskara Pandian, learned Special Government Pleader, has taken notice for the respondents 2 and 3. Considering the nature of the relief sought in the writ petition, notice need not be sent to the fourth respondent.

4.It is seen from the records that on 28.11.2016, a representation has been given to the first respondent viz., District Collector, Thoothukudi District with regard to regular supply of water through public water connection taps. 5.Considering the fact that already a representation has been given to the first respondent, this Court is of the view to direct the first respondent to look into the same and pass appropriate orders. With the above observation, this writ petition is liable to be allowed.

6.In fine, this writ petition is allowed without costs and the first respondent viz., District Collector, Thoothukudi District is directed to look into the representation dated 28.11.2016 and also directed to take appropriate steps for providing regular supply of water to the village mentioned in the petition.
