ORDER

This petition is filed seeking for a direction to the respondent police to provide police protection to the petitioner for celebration of Aadi Festival in Sri Meenakshi Amman Temple from 18.07.2023 to 26.07.2023. According to the petitioner, the petitioner moved an application before the respondent No.3 police on 26.06.2023. However, the police have kept the application pending and therefore, he sought for suitable direction.

2.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) on the other hand submits that when this festival was conducted last year, the petitioner has not adhered to the conditions imposed by the police, thereby some law and order issues arose while conducting the festival. It is submitted that the Tahsildar concerned is conducting peace committee meeting today and the outcome of the said peace committee meeting will decide as to whether the permission can be given to the 2/5

petitioner or not. The learned counsel for the petitioner has fairly submitted that the petitioner would abide by the decision of the peace committee meeting. 3.It is also reported by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) that the petitioner has closed the temple causing inconvenience to the devotees, on which the learned counsel for the petitioner has fairly submitted that he would advise the petitioner to open the temple, so that the festival can be performed by all the villagers by maintaining harmony in the village. 4.By recording the submissions made by the petitioner as well as the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side), this Petition is disposed of directing the police to decide the application of the petitioner based on the outcome of the peace committee meeting that is being held today. However, there shall be no order as to costs.
