O R D E R

This petition has been filed by the petitioner to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to provide adequate police protection to the petitioners' lives by considering their representation dated 02.08.2019.

2.It is the grievance of the petitioners that the petitioners fell in love with each other and also got married and the marriage is also registered before the concerned Sub Registrar Office in Sl.No.1966 of 2019. Now, they have lodged a complaint before the respondent police with an allegation that the parents of the 1st petitioner harassed them and also threatened them with dire consequences under the guise of honour killing. Therefore, the petitioner sought for police protection.

3.Heard the learned Government Advocate (criminal side) appearing for the respondents 1 and 2.

4.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is inclined to issue the following direction: Though the petitioners sought for police protection from the respondents 1 and 2, they are living at No.2/221, West Street, Periyathazhai Post, Padukkapthu, Sathankulam Taluk, Thoothukudi District, the petitioners are permitted to seek police protection from the concerned jurisdictional police and on receipt of such application from the petitioners, the concerned jurisdictional police shall consider the same and provide adequate police protection for the petitioners.

With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of.
