ORDER

This criminal original petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents 1 and 2 to provide police protection to the life and limb of the petitioner and his property situated in Survey No.291/B2, comprised in Patta No.1719, Pudhupalayam Revenue Village, Rajapalayam Taluk, Virudhunagar District, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 11.07.2022. 2.The learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is aged about 63 years and the third respondent attempted to grab his land and also threatened him. Hence the petitioner gave a representation to the second respondent seeking police protection. But, so far no action has been taken. Therefore, this petition has been filed. 3.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) submitted that previously, the petitioner lodged a complaint against the third respondent, for which, CSR.No.438 of 2021 had been assigned, then enquiry was conducted, 2/5

the parties were advised to approach the civil Court and the same was closed. Now, again the petitioner gave another representation, dated 11.07.2022 seeking police protection.

4.In view of the above, this Court is of the considered opinion that the petitioner representation, dated 11.07.2022 has to be considered in the light of the Rule 21 of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, which runs as follows:

'21. Action plan for the protection of life and property of Senior Citizens.- (1)The District Superintendent of Police and in the case of cities having a Police Commissioner, such Police Commissioner shall take all necessary steps, subject to such guidelines as the Government may issue from time to time for the protection of life and property of senior citizens.'

5.Therefore, the second respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation, dated 11.07.2022 in the light of Rule 21 of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and provide police protection.

6.With the above directions, this criminal original petition stands disposed of.
