O R D E R

The petitioner has approached this Court seeking a direction to the respondents to provide a drinking water connection to his residential house bearing Door No. 2/148B, Sivan Kovil Street, Manalur Panchayat, Sankarankovil, Tenkasi District.

2. According to the petitioner, he had submitted an application seeking a drinking water connection. However, the said application has not been considered, though he claims to be entitled to such a connection.

3. The learned Government Advocate, on instructions, submitted that when the concerned officer inspected the petitioner's house, the petitioner requested three water connections for the property. Since such a request could not be considered, the application was not processed and the fee paid by the petitioner was refunded. It was further submitted that if the petitioner submits a fresh application, the same would be considered in accordance with law.

4. In view of the above submission, no further orders are required in the present writ petition.

5. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of, reserving liberty to the petitioner to submit a fresh application to the respondents seeking a drinking water connection for the said property along with the prescribed fee. Upon receipt of such application and fee, the fifth respondent shall consider the same and provide a drinking water connection to the petitioner's house within a period of four (4) weeks, provided the petitioner satisfies the other applicable requirements. No costs.
