ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.) The relief sought for in the present Writ Petition is to direct the respondents to ensure all the Advocates to maintain proper dress code during the Court proceedings and not to wear neck band and gown during strike, boycott and agitation.

2.It is needless to state that as per the Code of Conduct, the Advocates have to maintain decorum during the Court proceedings and as far as other prayer sought for in the present Writ Petition that not to wear neck band and gown during strike, boycott and agitation, is concerned, the Constitutional Courts time and again reiterated that boycott by the Advocates on flimsy reasons is impermissible. If any misconduct is noticed by resorting to boycotts on flimsy reasons, suitable actions are to be initiated by the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry. 2/4

3.As far as the Registrar General, High Court, Chennai is concerned, in the event of noticing any misconduct, the Registrar General is empowered to lodge a complaint before the Bar Council for initiation of appropriate action. However, no further consideration is required in respect of the grounds raised in the present Writ Petition. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
