ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by N.SATHISH KUMAR, J.) The petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition seeking a direction to the respondents to provide basic amenities, namely, a cremation building with a roof, electricity connection with lighting facilities, and water supply to the common burial ground situated at T.Pappankulam Village, Thiruppuvanam Taluk, Sivagangai District, based on the petitioner's representation dated 29.05.2026.

2.The petitioner, representing the villagers, contends that the village, comprising more than 1,000 economically disadvantaged residents, lacks basic amenities in its common burial ground. The burial ground has no 2/6

cremation shed, water facility, or electricity, causing severe hardship, particularly during the rainy season, when cremation becomes difficult and the villagers are often compelled to bury the dead contrary to their customary practice. Despite repeated representations and grievances submitted to the authorities, including representations dated 09.03.2026 and 29.05.2026, no effective steps have been taken to provide the necessary facilities. Aggrieved by the inaction of the respondents, the petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition seeking appropriate directions. 3.The learned counsel appearing for the State/respondents 1 to 3 submitted that the petitioner's representation would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed on merits and in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court.

4.In view of the above submission, and without going into the merits of the claim made by the petitioner, we direct the authority concerned to consider the petitioner's representation dated 29.05.2026 and pass 3/6

appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner and any other interested parties. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
