Respondent Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents herein to extend the purchase and produce date passed in the proceedings of the 1st respondent in C.No.VI/43173/562/2015, dated 19.09.2015, to enable the petitioner to purchase and produce 0.32 Pistol from the General Manager, Heavy Vehicle Factory, Aavadi, Chennai 600 054, within a time frame fixed by this Hon'ble Court by disposing the petitioner's written representation, dated 04.03.2016.

O R D E R

Heard the petitioner in person and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondent. It is seen that this petitioner has been granted a fire arm license by the Commissioner of Police, Madurai City, and by order, dated 19.09.2015, he has been directed to purchase the weapon and produce the same before the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Armed Reserve, Madurai City on or before 17.03.2016 for inspection.

2. It is the contention of the petitioner that he has made an application for purchase of fire arm with the General Manager, Heavy Vehicles Factory, Aavadi, Chennai 600 054 and when the weapon was about https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ to be supplied, State assembly election has been notified by the Election Commission, on account of which, there cannot be any sale of

arms. In such circumstances, the petitioner is seeking an extension of time to purchase the firearm and produce the same before the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Armed Reserve, Madurai City, as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Madurai City. In such circumstances, the Commissioner of Police, Madurai City, is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 04.03.2016, as expeditiously as possible. The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
