The petitioner seeks a direction to consider the candidature of his daughter, namely, M.L.Abirami (Roll No.4107005419) under the category of 'OBC' in the NEET-UG 2021 examination conducted on 12.09.2021. The petitioner states that he and his daughter belong to the MBC category. As regards the NEET examination, it is stated that 1/3
the MBC category is subsumed within the OBC category for which 27 percent of seats are reserved. Upon coming to know that a separate certificate is required, such certificate was applied for. The OBC certificate was received only on 19.07.2021. Upon receipt thereof, the petitioner seeks a direction to consider the candidature of his daughter under the OBC category.
2. Mr.K.S.Selva Ganesan, learned counsel for the State, accepts notice on behalf of the second respondent. Mr.P.Karthick, learned Standing Counsel, accepts notice on behalf of the fourth respondent. On instructions, Mr.Karthick submits that a window has been opened for making changes, including changes in the category. He points out that such changes may be made on any date between 01.10.2021 and 10.10.2021. He also states that a public notice has been issued in such regard on 01.10.2021.
3. In light of the said submission, the petitioner's grievance stands redressed inasmuch as the petitioner is still in a position to request for change of category on or before 10.10.2021.
4. By recording the aforesaid, W.P(MD).No.18260 of 2021 is disposed of without any order as to costs.
