ORDER

The petitioner has come up with the above writ petition seeking for the issue of a writ of mandamus, to direct the respondent to take appropriate action on the request of the petitioner seeking appointment on compassionate grounds as per the letter No. VaMaNa5/01701/2002 dated 08.04.2002 of the Assistant Commissioner (North), Madurai City Corporation.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner. Mr.T.S.Mohammed Mohideen, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for the respondent.

3.The petitioner is the son of one Azhagar who was a sweeper in the Madurai Corporation and died in harness on 20.06.1990 when the petitioner was a minor.

According to the petitioner, his mother gave an application seeking employment on compassionate grounds on 05.03.1991. Thereafter, after attaining majority, the petitioner himself had given an application on 18.02.2000. In response to the same, the Assistant Commissioner, Madurai also directed the petitioner to produce adequate certificates for pursuing further action. The petitioner has also furnished all the required documents on 12.04.2002 followed by reminders on 10.03.2016 to consider his case for appointment on compassionate grounds. As there is no response, the petitioner has come up with the above writ petition.

4.Considering the above stated facts and circumstances and without expressing any view on the claim made by the petitioner, the writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent to consider the representation dated 10.03.2016 and pass orders on the same, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
