ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to conduct a proper enquiry into the alleged irregular allotment of lands comprised in Survey Nos. 87/1A1, 87/1B2, 87/1A3, 87/1C, 88/1A, 89/1A, 89/1B, and 89/2 situated at Thumbala Village, Musiri Taluk, Tiruchirappalli District, to ineligible persons claiming to be landless poor, and consequently to demarcate the plots and issue pattas to all eligible beneficiaries by considering the petitioner's representation dated 11.05.2026. 2/5

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.M.S.Parthiban, learned counsel for State appearing for the respondents.

3. The main grievance of the petitioner is that the lands were assigned in the year 2002 with the objective of providing house sites to landless poor persons. According to the petitioner, certain ineligible persons were irregularly allotted lands in the said assignment, and therefore an enquiry is sought into the alleged irregularities.

4. We are of the view that the petitioner has no locus standi to maintain the present writ petition. The allotments were made in the year 2002, and none of the beneficiaries has challenged them. After the lapse of more than two decades, the petitioner cannot, as a matter of right, seek cancellation of the free house-site allotments made to landless poor persons pursuant to a Government policy. Further, no complaint regarding any alleged irregularity in the allotments had been raised for all these years. In such circumstances, the petitioner is not entitled to challenge the allotments.
