ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed seeking direction to the respondents herein to sanction arrears of salary payable to the petitioner for a period from June 2020 to September 2020, namely, Rs.1,90,920/- along with interest at the rate of 6% per annum within the time limit that may be stipulated by this Court.

2. The petitioner was employed as Conductor by the respondent corporation on 18.03.1994. Under the voluntary retirement, he retired from service on 30.09.2020.

3. The petitioner submitted an application for voluntary retirement on 10.04.2020 before the 2nd respondent. The said application was not considered immediately. Therefore, he had worked during the month of June 2020 to September 2020. Lastly, on 30.09.2020, his application was accepted by the respondent corporation and he retired from service on the same day. Thereafter, he approached the respondents for sanction of arrears of salary. His request was 2/5

rejected by the respondents. Lastly, he has sent a representation to the respondents on 25.04.2023 seeking for sanction of arrears of salary. However, the respondents neither sanctioned the arrears of salary nor passed any orders on his representation. Hence, this writ petition came to be filed.

Considering the above said facts and circumstances of this case, this Court hereby directs the respondent corporation to sanction arrears of salary payable to the petitioner for the period from June 2020 to September 2020 along with interest at the rate of 6% per annum within a period of sixteen (16) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
