Heard Mr.J.Jeyakumaran, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.B.Ramanathan, learned standing counsel appearing for the respondents.

2. The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking to direct the respondents 1 to 3 to appoint her in any one of the posts in the respondents Office on compassionate ground as per her representation dated 13.05.2024.

3. The petitioner's father Kannan who has been working as a Foreman in the respondent Department died on 09.03.2024 while in service. Subsequently, the petitioner has made a representation to the respondents on 13.05.2024 seeking appointment on compassionate grounds. Seeking to consider the representation positively, the present petition is filed.

4. Mr.J.Jeyakumaran, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner's mother is a legally wedded wife of the petitioner's father. In fact, the petitioner's father has filed a petition for dissolution of marriage before the Sub court, Thirumangalam in H.M.O.P.No.166 of 2017 and that was dismissed on 26.09.2018. Appeal was not preferred by the petitioner's father and hence, the status of the petitioner and her mother as legal heirs of her deceased father did not change. It is his submission that the petitioner's mother is also depending on the petitioner and hence the petitioner has given an application seeking appointment on compassionate grounds.

5. It is to be noted that the petitioner had given a representation only on 13.05.2024. So, it is too early to expect any appointment within a period of two months from the date of death of her father. However, the respondents can be directed to consider the representation of the petitioner and pass orders as expeditiously as possible. 3/5

In view of the above observations, the writ petition is disposed of and the respondents are directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 13.05.2024 on merits and pass orders in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible.
