The petitioner seeks a direction to the respondent to reissue his passport by including the name of his wife therein. 2.The petitioner was issued a passport bearing File No. R6699745, valid up to 30.05.2027. He submitted an application dated 06.01.2026 requesting inclusion of his wife's name in the passport. According to the petitioner, the said application has not yet been considered by the respondent.
3.The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has issued guidelines and circulars prescribing the documents that may be produced for issuance of a passport or correction of passport particulars. Such documents include the Aadhaar Card, Elector's Photo Identity Card (EPIC), Service Identity Card issued by the State or Central Government, Birth Certificate issued under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, and other specified documents. 4.The petitioner submits that he has produced all relevant public documents along with his application to establish that his marriage was solemnized. He further submits that he has also produced public documents issued in favour of his wife showing that he is her husband.

5.In view of the guidelines and circulars issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the materials placed before this Court, the respondent is required to consider the petitioner's request for inclusion of his wife's name in the passport, subject to verification of the documents and compliance with the applicable requirements. 6.The petitioner is also at liberty to produce any additional public documents issued in favour of his wife in support of his request.
7.Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's request and reissue the passport by including the name of his wife, subject to the petitioner satisfying all requirements and subject to verification of the documents in accordance with law.
