O R D E R

The writ petition is filed for a mandamus directing the first respondent to return back the petitioner's driving license bearing D.L.No. TN 58-Z20140003071 forthwith.

2. Heard Mr.S.Arunachalam, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, Ms.P.Sudarkodi Nachiar, learned Government Standing Counsel, who takes notice on behalf of the first respondent and Mr.I.Murugesan, learned Government Advocate (Crl. side), who takes notice on behalf of the second respondent.

3. According to the learned Government Advocate (Crl. side), the petitioner was involved in an accident, and a case was registered in crime No.243 of 2026 on the file of the second respondent police. The license is now being sought for and is in the custody of the first respondent with reference to the enquiry. Once the enquiry is over, the first respondent will return the license.

4. In view thereof, this writ petition is disposed of on the following terms:

i. The first respondent shall complete the enquiry and the petitioner shall also appear before the first respondent for expeditious completion of the enquiry and thereafter, the original license be handed over to the petitioner;

ii. The aforesaid exercise be completed within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a web copy of this order without waiting for a certified copy of this order.
