PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the second respondent to register a F.I.R. in extraneous situation based on the petitioner's complaint on 08.06.2022, as per law within a stipulated time that may be fixed by this Court.

O R D E R

The writ petitioner filed this Writ Petition, seeking a direction to direct the second respondent to register a F.I.R., based on the petitioner's complaint on 08.06.2022.

2.When the matter is taken up for hearing today(23.08.2022), the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) appearing for the respondent police would submit that the petitioner has already sent a complaint, dated 08.06.2022 to the Director, DVAC, Chennai and the same was forwarded to the Superintendent of Police, Sivagangai District for taking necessary action. He further submits that the case has been registered in Crime No.512 of 2022 for the offences punishable under Sections 341, 2/5

294(b), 506(i) and Section 4 of Women Harassment Act and it is under investigation.

3.Recording the said submission made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side), the third respondent is directed to take necessary action upon the petitioner's complaint, dated 08.06.2022 and take suitable action on merits, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Further, if the complaint and information furnished by the petitioner are found to be false, the respondent police is at liberty to register the case against the petitioner and prosecute under Section 182 of IPC.

4.With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
