O RDER This Criminal Original Petition is filed seeking for a direction to the second respondent to expedite the investigation in Crime No.8 of 2022 registered for the offence punishable under Sections 406, 420 and 120B IPC and Section 5 of Tamil Nadu Protection of Interest of Depositors (In Financial Establishment) Act, 1897.
2. It is submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioner that on a complaint given by the petitioner that he has deposited a sum of Rs. 25,00,000/- in the accused Company/Mahilchi Real Promoters and was cheated, a case has been registered in Crime No.8 of 2022 for the offence punishable under Sections 406, 420 and 120B IPC and Section 5 of Tamil Nadu Protection of Interest of Depositors (In Financial Establishment) Act, 1897. It is further submitted that apart from the petitioner, there are many other investors who lost the money and the money involved in this crime is about more than 40 Crores.
3. It is submitted by the learned Government Advocate (criminal side) appearing for the respondents Police that the respondents Police, during the course of enquiry, have arrested about five persons and the 2/4
main person, who is mastermind, is still at large. The Police have recorded the witnesses of 584 persons. Once the investigation is completed, the respondents Police will file the charge sheet.
4. Considering the nature of the case where more witnesses are there and the fact that still the main accused is at large, the respondents Police are directed to expedite the investigation and file the charge sheet as quickly as possible.
