(Judgment of the Court was made by G.R.Swaminathan J.) Heard both sides.

2.The appellant herein filed W.P(MD)No.4028 of 2013 seeking information regarding the private properties of Chokkampatti Zameen in Tirunelveli District along with old Zameen numbers and new settlement survey numbers and other revenue particulars. The learned single Judge vide order dated 29.04.2021 closed the writ petition on the ground that the relief may not survive at this length of time. Challenging the same, this Writ Appeal has been filed.

3.We did not want to come in the way if the Department is ready to furnish the requisite information. But then, the learned Additional Government Pleader on written instructions submitted that the information and particulars sought for by the appellant are not available with the respondent authorities.

4.We are therefore of the view that issuing any direction would be a futile exercise. The Court could not issue any direction that is not possible of compliance. When the respondents categorically asserts that they are not having information, it is not open to us to grant relief as sought for. The order passed by the learned single Judge is sustained. 5.This Writ Appeal stands dismissed. No costs.
